Playing board games can enhance reading

Playing board games can enhance reading.  Board games have rules, directions and tasks—and all of these have to be read!  Scrabbleand Boggle are great, but other board games have opportunities for reading as well.  Reading does not just happen in books, but is all around us—even in word games that can be played while traveling in the car.  As a Little’s vocabulary grows, so does self-esteem and critical thinking skills.  Encourage your Little to take a role in any reading that can be done during your time together.
