Most youngsters enjoy looking at comics or the funny pages. No matter the age level of your Little, there is a comic strip with touches of humor suitable for figuring out the hidden joke with your Little. The same technique can be applied to appropriate movies or Saturday cartoons. Whether it’s “Garfield” or “Kung Fu Panda” or “The Far Side,” there is fun to be had and good instruction in having your Little explain a joke to you. At the same time your Little is learning to look for irony and subtlety. So consider carrying the Sunday comics or a cartoon collection with you.
